@BuggyofMildDiscomfort your guidance is much appreciated. You saved me from tearing apart a factory shortblock.

From what I can see, yes the orientation of the thrustwasher is correct.

Just be aware that if you don't have Honda assemble and install your new engine, it really isn't warranties. Specifcally, if you have a problem with it, Honda will charge to to tear it all apart to determine the cause of failure and they will only honor the warranty if they determine the short block was at fault. Ask me how I know...

Yeah I’m sorry that you had to go through all of that. I do understand the risks involved with doing the work myself. I am willing to accept the risks. Short of a complete tear down of the new short block. I have done my due diligence and I am confident I won’t have issues. We’ll see, Murphy’s law.

Okay, fair enough. That was great that he checked the trust washer orientation. Wishing I had...

He is hopefully aware of another possible issue related to potential bad storage condition of these short blocks resulting in corroded bearings before engine was started.

I could find the post if needed. Anyway, I'm not trying to be negative or imply I know the short block is going to self destruct. I just know mine did and I'm confident it wasn't due to the performance pressure plate or improper installation.

On a more positive note, I finally finished the install of my eBay purchased used 2005 F22C engine that I converted to DBW and she fired up the first time!!! Taken her for several spins and no leaks or issues (so far). . I'll put together a detailed post on my experience and lessons learned in hopes of helping others.

Nice! Glad it worked for you. Since you posted your thread, I've also needed to go down that path lol. Putting my own advice into practice

Get you some Kraken gaskets, for the VTEC solenoid, just in case.

Wow, that's kind of crazy... Hope you are able to find a lightly used short/long block. I'm about to do a leakdown test on mine just to hopefully confirm the really good compression test readings (240 psi across the cylinders) I got form the Ebay seller.

I'm gonna compression and leakdown test mine prior to installing it, yeah.

Although, I'm not 100% sure the bottom end of my current engine is totally done for. So...the engine I bought may end up as a spare.

Sorry for derailing your thread, OP.
