new gears, when to change break in oil?

A fluid change may help diminish the whine but I wouldn't expect it to ever completely disappear. If it becomes bothersome you could always do another mod that is louder than the gear whine.

I was running a test at the time, so it was a short interval of about 3000 miles. You will find that the color is not indicative of miles driven. It will get that color very quickly and won't go much darker even after several more thousands of miles.
