New Owner - Few Questions
Yeah replacing the fluids may be a good shout. I'll try & look through the service history & find out when it was last done.
I'm not locked out of the gear & never have been, its just a little stiffer than i'd expected occastionally. Plus it seems to be worse when i skip shift (which i promise will never do again), so if i dont skip then maybe things will be better.
I'll go for a drive tonight & see what its like.
Thanks for your help. Keep it coming ;-)

Just change it. I don't even know of a way to check it? It will take 2 quarts of oil (I use Honda MTF) and about a half hour of your time to flush it.
Read the FAQ for a complete write-up with pictures and oil suggestions.

Ok, sorry to be a pain, i'll get it done at the next opportunity i get & i'll look at the FAQ for the guide, cheers.
I have one more question to ask then i'm done. Occasionally when i brake i get a knocking/creaking noise from the rear left side of the car, not an incredibly loud noise but can defo hear it.
Any suggestions?

Here's something I never got a good answer to:
If you are a "skip shifter" and you pause for an extended time in neutral, why would that make any difference going from 4-->6 or such? I completely understand trying to bang shifts while skipping is bad because of where the gears are located, but if you're technically going from 4-->N-->6... why would it matter?

Ckit, with no mechanical experience of my own here is my answer to your question.
I think if it is truly an extended amount of time, and not an every day thing you should be fine. Some times I'll rev match and down shift for a red light and get to about 15 MPH or a little lower and put the car in N to come to a stop. The light will turn green so I have to go back to second. This is a common practice when driving on any public road. There for, the tranny should be able to hold that much.
Bill man should check this is let us know what's up.
