New Polished Valve Cover

mine wasn't either, until I dove it home and cleaned up everything the dealer missed lol
Nobody can ever clean to the owners satisfaction
that's why I do all the cleaning myself.... The car has never seen a detail shop
I let the dealer do the oil changes, but that's it.
& I always bring my own oil.

the cover looks sweet. now about the intake, i am curious...
1. noise other than at wide open throttle? noise really loud or just louder than stock? exaust noise effected in any way?
2. how easy to install, looks like a straight install and only minor hand tools, perhaps an hour or so max? Easy?
3. you say improvements in hp as stated by K&N, that for an S2000, if so how much, 3-5 hp range? 5-8 hp?
4. would you buy that mod again?
thanks, inquireing minds wish to know.

hirev,
the K&N FIPK Gen II:
1. Sound is nice and quiet in low RMP 0 - 2500.
from that point on up it starts to growl, low and deep, but not annoying at all. The sound is really nice!!!
2. Install, I totally recommend down loading the install.pdf from K&N and studying it while standing in front of your engine. the photos are small and being able to look at the bay helps locate what you are looking at on paper.

most of the install is removing the old stock equipment.
However when putting in the new stuff,
here's what I wish I'd known about install:
A. the weather stripping that goes around the rim of the box -
start at one end and push it on until you get to the first 90 degree angle,
then scribe a line on the lower hard plastic lip of the weather stripping,
right where it lines up with the corner of the box. Then pull the Weather stripping back off about 4 -5 inches and get your hack saw and cut the hard plastic lip of the weather stripping along the line you scribed... Now pushe the Weather stripping back on and it will now easily turn 90 dergree and continue pusshing it onto the edge of the box... repeat this when ever you come to 90 degree angles on the box.
this part alone will save you tons of time and frustration
B. When removing the hose from the bottom of the throttle body..
make sure to place a really thick folded towel right under it - on top of the alternator, because there is a bit of fluid that will leak out.
C. Use a socket on the worm clamps - and always check that they are tight - every week for the first month and then once a month after.
D. make sure you have two socket extensions and wrenches that fit the nuts in tight areas ( this comes in handy when installing the box.)
The initial install took me a while, but knowing the things above and studying the instruction untill you can visualize the install in your head will really make a world of difference.
I could do it in 45min now, talking my time.
