New S2000 Owner Requests Assitance
I just purchased a 2005 CERTIFIED S2000 2 months ago and within a couple of days noticed this squeaky rattle-like noise coming from what seemed to be under the dash whenever i went over any bumps at all/ and the top making a squeak everytime I put it it up. Before I could get it looked @ I was hit by a motorcycle going 25 mph that lost control from behind while attempting to go through lanes during heavy traffic. Was in the shop almost 5 weeks. When returned the noise was still there and was getting worse. Took it to Anthony's Muffler shop to have it looked at and was told that "something was stuck in the rudder", which he removed, and then (after the noise was only fixed 50 percent), that the struts needed to be replaced. Also that the top was out of alignment and needed to be fixed. My questions are
1. How in the world are my struts damaged and need to be replaced with only 12000 miles on the car and how is top out of alignment, unless there was mischeif with the previous owner.
2. Could the accident somehow possibly affected either of those situations.
3. Which Honda should I take it to to get the best work done, I'm willing drive up to 50 miles around Los Angeles County.
Please assist me as I love my new car and this noise is amazingly annoying and is damaging the car. Thanks for all the replies!

I'm not sure it this might help you, but I had a squeaky noise coming from the dash board. But searching here brought a topic where someone said that the noise came from the hood catch. I tried to oil it and the problem was solved.
Again, I'm not sure if this is your case but could be worth trying out.

Struts needing replacement sounds to me like the previous owner lowered the car with Springs only.
I would get warranty to get that fixed, yes it is a wear item but not 12,000 miles wear
Also there's a thread that says to lube the softtop frame points, it's recent with pics, I will post it if I find it.
-PS if you can't get warranty to fix the struts, I would recommend Koni Sport struts (yellow color) you get good handeling from them and you can lower you car .5 inchs with stock springs.
Good luck
