Default newbie needs advice

Hi all,
I am considering an ap2 but having previously owned an Accord type r was wondering if the vtec changeover is as noticeable on a standard AP2 ?
I have just test driven one which revs cleanly to the top of the rev scale but I didnt notice any change in exhaust note anywhere in the rev range under any throttle positions ??
no eml lights were on and oil level was good ,the temp was about 3-4 bars.

thanks in advance

I believe Honda has smoothed out the VTEC transition over the years as engine technology has progressed. It used to be much more audible on the B and H series engines. I can hear the exhaust note change on my AP1 (F20C), but I do have to pay attention. The power surge between 6000-9000RPM however is quite noticeable.

I don't have any experience with the F22C, but I wouldn't be surprised if the transition has been smoothed out even more.
