Default Newbie question...rev-limiter?

Got my 2002 Yellow S2000 in Late September. With travel and weather on east coat, I have not used her much. Just breaking a 1300 miles now.

Anyway, a kick ass day here in NJ. So I take her to work today. Been taking her out on short trips every week or so to keep her in use. I am at a light and decide to sprint her onto the highway...no I have not revved her much yet. So I rev to 5000 in first and about 6K in second and I seem to hit a rev-limiter or shutdown as she lost power or something.

Other that that she runs well as long as I dont rev her over 6K. I thought the redline was 9K.

Thoughts and thanks in advance to all the other experts.

If the engine is cold, with less than 3 bars on the temp gauge, there is a limiter put in place at 6k rpms. This is to protect your engine from damage that could be done by vtec'ing without warming it up first. So next time, before you try to pass 6k rpms, make sure the engine is good and warm. Good luck to you and enjoy the car.

Cheers,

Steve
