Default Next Mod: S/C Vortech or Comptech-help with pros/cons

I guess I am going to bite the bullit and step up to the only mod that seems to work well-S/C. I have read a lot about both, and for those of you have done either, what is the best route to go?

1. which system is eaisiest to install/maintain once on...ie. lack of complications, etc.?

2. Has Vortech ironed out the initial problems on the newer kits?

3. Is the Vortechs' extra power worth it?

4. Are all the kits complete with everything?

5. Is there a new Comptech on the horizion with aftercooler?

Thanks for all your help with these questions and concerns.

you may already know this but you cant realy get a good launch w/ a supercharger, ive talked to a few people with them and they said they rev to about 4500 and slip the clutch, so they dont destroy thir rearend, r transmission, these parts are made to handle 240-260 hp (at the crank) not just about 300 at the wheels. but other than that have fun just be carefull.

My buddy has the Comptech and I know you have to lower your launch rpm's as all you will get is wheelspin and broken parts, I am a roll on racer only hate to launch the baby now!-thanks for the words of wisdom though. PT

Jerry- thanks for your feedback as I like the Vortech's aftercooler, but I know people w/Comptech and there is actually a 2 month old one for sale in the marketplace for one of our site sponsers. I am hardly mechanically inclined so I am not going to be doing the install myself. I will probably go with the Comptech for the reasons you listed, I am a little concerned with the "bugs" in the Vortech system. Thanks again for taking the time for your response. Phil

I'm not trying to sway you from the Vortech, both are good kits. I'm just trying to provide information from my point of view.

I purchased my Comptech kit used, and all but one bolt showed up. I had a very good experience. But along with this experience I can share a few pieces of advice if you are looking at the used Comptech kit in the Group Buys section. First, Comptech will only warrantee the product to the orginal purchaser of the kit. So if things blow up, you need to replace them with cash out of pocket. This means if you blow a seal on the blower, you are paying cash for the new parts. Second, the used kit on sale does not include the fuel pump. You really need this part, but a simple phone call to Comptech will allow you to order the replacements. If you choose to buy the used kit, call Comptech to order any missing parts before sending it off to be installed. Make TRIPLE sure you are getting the Comptech crank pulley, that would be a very expensive part not to receive!
