Default No VTEC?

I put a VAFC on my car yesterday. I believe it is causing the ECU to throw a code the check engine light comes on and it locks me out of VTEC. Which we all know sux.....Does anyone have the solution?

Thank You,
Jake

Sorry to get off topic here, but I am new to the S2000 (just put a deposit on one today). What exactly do people mean when they say "hit VTEC" or something like that?

Hmmm. I'll take the bait.

VTEC is Honda's name for their patented variable valve timing system. At a certain point (usually around 6000RPM on the S2000) the ECU changes the valve timing so that the intake and exhaust valves are open longer, allowing for more airflow into and out of the cylinders. This results in a marked improvement in engine performance.

VTEC engaging on the S2K literally feels like getting kicked in the rump, especially in first and second gears. Feels great!

1. Check you VAFC wiring.
2. Check where you spliced in with the VAFC (before or after the Vortech wiring). It only works one way.
3. Check the VAFC settings.

make sure you don't have any "+" numbers in the V-AFC. The V-AFC cannot add fuel, only subtract it.

My original tuner refused to believe me and I couldnt get into VTEC. An hour later he finally agreed to prove me wrong...and it worked (VTEC, not him proving me wrong). I later went with a new tuner and AEM EMS.

The VAFC CAN ADD FUEL.

There mutliple reasons why it might not be working. For one.. after you check all the things XViper said.... which the settings should have the arrow pointing n the up+right position and on 4 cylinder.. for some reason my VAFC reset itself when we first installed it and it was on 6 cylinder and the car ran but no VTEC.

You can also setup the viewing on the screen to see the VTEC signal to see if the VAFC is recieving the signal from the ECU and if the VAFC is sending th signal back out. If it says ON with incoming but not ON with the sending then check your settings..

If the VAFC is saying its getting the signal and sending it.... Then your gonna have to do more troubleshooting outside the settings and pay more attention to wiring and why the signal isn't getting to the solenoid or what not.. Hope that wasn't too confusing..
