Notchy/stiff gear shift
I like Honda MTF. For the track I use Redline because it will keep shifting smooth with higher heat, but in cool weather it will be notchy until it warms up. So for street, autocross I would stick with Honda personally.
That's weird. I am a fan of RP Synchromax. I'm running it right now. I switched up from Redline to see if it would improve the shifting feel and it did. My shifting is smooth and it's not too notchy when cold.
Just speaking from personal experience. I live in Montana and with the recent temps I am cruising around at 40-55 degrees and the 2nd and 3rd gear shifts are notch as he** but once it heats up things seem to be better. Before this Honda MTF seemed fine for all gears in lower temps too.
Have a look at the datsheets of the Oil manufacteres before you Buy. There is a HUGE variety in Viscositiy when the oil is cold. Some oils are nearly double as "Thick" when cold compared to others, beside they all are in the 75w-80, 75w-85 and 75w-90 range.
When the oil is hot, they are all about in the same range.
Amsoil and Red Line are really thin when cold, and you feel it. Only the first minutes of a drive from a cold start are a little bit notchy.
