Default NSX Engine in the S?

I dont know if anyone has heard this, but i recently heard the S was designed for a NSX engine, but Honda thought a 40,000 dollar car that was faster than the NSX might piss Acura off a bit. Apparently this is the reason when you put in a cold air intake there is about 2 feet of space infront of the engine. Enough space to put a turbo in along with the NSX engine apparently. I wonder if anyone has or is going to attempt this soon. It would be nice to see an S with 6 cylinders some time soon, especially a 6 cyl V-tech. What do you guys this of this?

No go since the engine is mounted right-to-left rather than front-to-back (like the F20C). The NSX is basically a FWD car going backwards.

That shouldn't make a difference. All you would need is to be able to bolt it up to a different tranny.

It was built ground up with the F20c as part of that detail. The reason for that space is that they wanted classic sports car lines, short trunk and long hood. The engine is placed behind the front axle for weight distribution purposes.

Do a little research into the S2000 and you'll find plenty of reasons why this can't be true. A couple that come to mind:

1) The name of the car. The S2000 name is a throwback to the old S500 and S600 roadsters Honda made a long long time ago. The S500 had a 500cc engine and the S600 had a 600cc engine. As it's name suggests, the S2000 was designed for a 2000cc engine from day one.

2) In order to achieve their weight distribution goals the designers of the S2000 had to put the engine behind the front axle. This resulted in the gap between the engine and radiator that becomes visible after removing the stock air box.

Not to mention, I think the NSX engine is not significantly longer than the S2000 engine, if at all. It is wider, obviously, but I don't think the extra two feet of space would be needed.
