Also, if you can get the car up on jack stands and look for anything that could have wrapped itself around the exhaust, cat, or any other hot part under the car. I had a burning smell too and discovered a black plastic bag melting to the cat.

AP2's have the clutch delay valve which slips the clutch slightly in order to preserve the life of the differential. You were probably smelling the clutch after you floored it
