Default Oil catch can hose

Well I've had a cusco oil catch can on my car for a little while. When I took my car to get dyno'd the guy said that the check valve was making excessive noise because the line I was using collapsed on itself. We replaced the line with a new one and the noise went away immideatly. That line also collapsed in a few days of driving.

My question is what line should I use. The hose that I have been using has been that clear hose that almost looks braided. This is also the most common hose I see on other cars with catch cans as well. Would something like fuel line be better?

That clear braided line is garbage. It is a common occurrence. You can buy fuel line from Kragen (the black color) for 30 cents a foot. You need to buy english equivalent (no Metric). I think it is 3/8" hose...

I did it to mine, no problems for 9k miles now.

Thanks for the fast reply.

If it's garbage than why do I see it on every picture? Just because it looks nice?

No worries...

That clear braided hose comes standard with most catch cans. And after the hose sees some oil, those pretty hoses start looking like sewage drain pipes!

Exactly, I only put the clear stuff on when I'm taking photographs with the hood up.

you can pick up a thicker version of the clear braided hose at your local lowes/home depot that wont collapse with the heat/vacuum.
