Default Oil change duration question

I drive my car about 2,200 miles per year and the oil I use is mobil 1 synthetic, so my question is should I still change my oil every three months?

Have you read your owner's manual yet? It gives you two maintenance schedules. Pick the one that is right for you.

Every three months is a waste of oil. I'd agree that M1 every six months is probably the minimum I'd consider.

You could probably even go with a quality dino every six months with that mileage.

A UOA might make you feel good about a longer interval on the M1.

From what I've heard, acid in the old oil can eat away at the rod and main bearings and prematurely age the oil seals. Maybe XViper or Billman can shed some light on this.
