Default Question about engine oil...

How important is it to follow the 3 month guideline for getting an oil change. I don't put very many miles on either of my cars, not very close to 3,000 in 3 months, so how important is that part of the guideline?

It seems you have been listening to the marketing department of the oil companies instead of reading your S2000's owners manual.

FYI, this topic has most likely already been discussed many times over in several different threads. You should try using the SEARCH function.

3 months is too early...

the owner's manual said either 3750miles/6 months or 7500miles/1 year.

i had the same question before.

i had my first oil change at 201X miles @ 5 months.

I actually looked at the oil on the dip stick and think it's kind of dirty (dark brown?) ... and cause i just came back from a day school/track day ... so i decided to have the oil change.

if your oil looks ok. then i would guess you can wait until 6 months or something. if you are still not logging enough milage, then go for a weekend get away. it always help.
