Oil Change Interval
Hi there folks!
Am planning a fairly long road trip this upcoming October and it'll wind up tacking on 3425 miles to the odometer. I plan on doing a general maintenance check up before which includes an oil change but this will be the first time where I come anywhere near the mileage for a required oil change. I usually wind up changing the oil after two track days or every 1000 miles whichever comes first.
The trip is 70% highway driving with the rest being slow city crawl and cruising.
Think I am good to stretch my oil change?
I've been using nothing but Motul X-cess 8100 5w40 all this time..
And for those who said I should do Blackstone Labs, I can't. I was officially rejected by the post office up here in Canadia.
Thanks!

Stretch the oil change? Every 1000 miles? Can I have the oil concession?
The oil change schedule is 7,500 miles (12,000 kilometers). Half that for "severe service" which doesn't apply here. (But what would the engineers who designed the engine know about this?) Your track days may count as severe service but I doubt you're doing 3750 miles at WOT on the track.
Oil spec is 10W-30 unless you're driving in sub-zero temperatures which even in Canada doesn't happen too many places with paved roads for several more months.

You don't need to change the oil like your at the track.(guessing you will have some fun on the way).
personally I would change the oil and oil filter before I leave and when I get back home change it again. With good oil and the OEM filter you will be fine. Just keep checking it incase you burn it and top off accordingly. KEEP oil in your car!

Wow! 1000 mile oil changes
Well, I guess if thats a one year interval, you just dont drive the car much I guess. But 3500 miles is a low typical oil change interval, certainly for synthetic, so no problem at all. I typically go 4500-5500.
Change before you leave and then change when you get home. and yes, as mentioned, absolutely check your oil usage if your not used to doing because you only put a 1000 miles a typical year. My F22, goes about 1500-1800 miles before I notice a drop on the dipstick ( about one x) but after that I use up about this much every 500 miles or so. One x is about 4 oz just fyi. If your F20 consumes the same (and some much more!) If you dont check your level at all during that 3500 miles, worst case you could be down 1 to over 3Q by the time you get home, and thats still within "Honda spec" usage. As your oil gets some miles on it, and as well as when it drops, usage amount will usually increase.
