i would drive more bro. Why buy a car to drive it so little? i could drive it 200 miles in a night just for the sake of a late night star gazing cruise in the summer time. ehh just me, i waste money on gas and car maintenance more than anything else i drive too much for the sake of driving. Keeps me sane sometimes

because i have a daily driver and during the summer gas was $3 a gallon, and I need new tires at $600 for a set of 4. I'm saving my money for home improvement stuff.

All of the 100% synthetics legitimately offer extended oil change intervals as a benefit. I use the mid-level Amsoil 10W-30 (coded ATM), which is specified for 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first. Since I put only around 5,000 miles per year on my s2k, I end up changing the oil every November, before the car goes into winter slumber mode. Even though the Amsoil costs around $6 per quart, it's actually cheaper than changing dino oil (+ filter) every 3 months which, as others have said, is a complete waste.

Just drive the car more and you will have a better life. Somebody tell me how you can limit yourself to 30 miles/weekend? My car is just getting nice and warmed up at 30 miles. It is very considerate to avoid driving all those miles so that the next owner can have a good car --- just makes zero sense to me.

I just dont drive it as I have a beater truck for work. I also run my errands in the truck as well. I usually drive my s2 on the weekends to the hobby store and to the model boat pond. That is on Sat. Sunday I stay home and do repairs around the house and tend to the lawn.

it may be cheaper to do it your way, but i like fresh oil in my car.
i'm a MY06 so i change whenever neccesary, thats when my service light comes on. i think the interval is 5k miles. i dont follow the 3 months thing. i read somewhere on this forum that conventional oil is good for 6 months, then something about the minerals and stuff in it start to degrade. but i dont let my oil sit that long in the car.
