I burn oil, but only when I'm in VTEC. I think the gasket for my VTEC solenoid is bad as I have a bit of oil around it and some on the subframe right in front of the engine. I'm not entirely sure as I haven't really troubleshot it yet.

Here's what I did with my PCV and breather:

Zero consumption afterward. Very little drainage in the filter and through the hose also... The reason I ran the hose from the PCV filter line is to vent vapors to the rear with the exhaust.

I've been having a consumption issue with me 2002. I changed the PCV and it didn't seem to help. So I put a longer hose on my PCV and let it vent to atmosphere, and plugged the hole on the intake manifold. I left the valve cover breather alone for now...might do something similar with it soon though. Seems to have reduced or stopped the smoking at idle/at stop lights. I get no visible smoke on acceleration or deceleration. Never have.

I also switched oil from the Valvoline MaxLife 10w30 to Rotella 15w40. Will report back in a few days of driving.

why in the world are you putting oil meant for diesels in your car? i would highly recommend dumping that shit and using a 10w30 or 5w30...youre going to damage the motor you keep running that 15w40

HAHA, nope...

Rotella actually tests really well for our application. I ran the T6 5w40 in my Subaru forever (sold the car) and it was great. I live in the south where it is hot, so 15w40 is fine.

whatever you say man...we'll just agree to disagree on this...the oil passages in the F20c head arent that big, running that grade oil for any extended period will eventually damage it

Agreed ^. If you saw how the oil is routed to certain critical components and how tiny the orifices are you wouldn't be running heavy oil. Promise... Honda didnt spec 10w30 for nothing.

I'll double check the manual, but off the top of my head, I believe I recall seeing 15w40 as an acceptable oil for warmer temperatures. They also make 5w40 Rotella, so that is an option I suppose.

Directly from the FSM. Nothing mentioned anywhere about any other weights of oil.

Take the board's and Honda's advice.

Ah cool thanks for posting...was just looking for that online. Maybe I'll go back to the 10w30 after all.

Was just talking to a friend the other day about this, and he suggested the 15w-40. As a certified mechanic, and owner of 3 S2000's, I decided to take his advice. Might go get some 10W-30 to put back in though :-/
