Thumbs up Oil Filter Part Number?

I need to change the oil in my new Stook, so I went to the Honda dealer to get a filter today. Didn't know the part # so I just told her it was for a 2001 S2000. Well, the filter she gave me is considerably smaller than the one currently on the car.... ?

The code above the bar code on the new one is 15400-PLM-A02. There is also a number on the side of the filter: S51251. Not sure which one of those would be the part #.

So is this the right filter? What is an S2000 oil filter part number?

Is there a list of S2K part #'s out there?

Thanks!

No, this isn't the right filter. You need to request a 15400-PCX-004 filter. The PLM filter will fit your car, but it doesn't have the flow capacity of the PCX filter.

This is s common problem, because the PLM will fit all hondas, and many dealerships aren't very familiar with the S2000.

Honda 15400-PLM-A02
Recommended for the S2000? NO.

Comments: Made in the U.S. by Fram, and probably equivalent to the Fram part #7317 pictured above, this was the universal Honda OEM filter specified for use in most Honda cars until mid-2003, but NOT the S2000. It is distinctly smaller than the U.S. and JDM S2000 filters, and was widely recognized as being a generally poor-to-mediocre filter.
Wow, thanks for saving me, guys and gals! The bad thing is, I bought this filter when I was in my beater car up at my Dad's area... about an hour and a half away. But I'll be driving through there in a few days, so I'll take it back.

Has anyone had any problems exchanging parts at a Honda dealer?
