Default Oil- Synthetic to Regular

Howdy-

I've been running synthetic oil in my car for about 7000 miles now, 47,000 miles on a 2001.

Yesterday, the Honda dealer, in a long term maintenance checkup, put in regular oil.

Urban legend has it that this is a very bad thing.

Anyone have any input?

Thanks...

I would change it back to synthetic really soon. They say once you switch over to synthetic you shouldn't go back to dino fluid. I wish I understood why, a little better. But thats what I have always heard.

It will make no difference. I would wait until my next change is due and put whatever you want in.

I just talked with the dealership, and they agree with you cdelena.

Thanks...

Not a problem going back to dino. You just don't ever want to mix 2 different makes of synthetic oil. The base stocks may not be compatible.

Agree with cdelena too. As long as you use ALL dino or ALL synthetic you are ok. Just keep it straight when you are adding oil between changes

Switching from Synthetic to Conventinal oil is no concern at all. Also, there is no problem mixing synthetic and conventional oils. Same for mixing grades to get a desireable viscosity.
