Default P0132 error after driving hard

Hello Guys,

I have a MY00 S2000 AP1. After driving hard (pushing to 200Km/h or more) it throws P0132 error. Primary oxygen sesor high voltage. It means it is running lean?

What can I do?

Thanks in advance,
Janos

Yes, stochiometric is ~400mV, when the oxygen content is high(ie rich condition) the voltage goes up, which triggers the ECU to trim the fuel tables. When you look at a properly functioning O2 sensor with an OBD2 scanner/smart phone app combo, it oscillates back and forth about the 400mV mark. If the voltage is too low that means the computer detects a lean condition and floods the engine with gas, a tell tale sign that you're running excessively rich is to smell the oil on the dipstick, it'll smell like gasoline from a mile away. There's also a nice sooty spot near the tail-pipe.

You can swap the O2 sensor, it's especially likely if your car has close to or over 100,000 miles or 10 years as the zirconium, or other crystal that generates a voltage in the presence of oxygen degrades over time.

High voltage means you are running rich, or at least that's what the sensor thinks.
Do you have any modifications done to your car? For how long do you drive at 200+ when you get the code?

The car has done ~120k km (75k miles) and fully stock except an invidia N1 catback exhaust. Additional information is that my oil consumption is quit big (more than 1quart/1000miles).
There is a black spot on the tail pipe, yes. :-)
I was driving approx.0,5mile with 200km/h speed and the cel occured.
Any ideas?

Possible oil fouling of the 02 sensor due to severe oil consumption is my initial thought. Pull out the sensor and see what it looks like. Chances are it needs replacement. Unlike 5-6 years ago, there are much more inexpensive pnp options from Denso and Bosch for less then $50, unlike the same sensor from Honda for $300. So its definitely worth trying a replacement. Cleaning the sensors sometimes works but not always.

Your model year runs the richest of all S2000's, at that speed you will be running high throttle and running pretty rich. I'd replace the sensor given the age, and check/replace the spark plugs if they are getting old. A good quality fuel injector cleaner can't hurt either.

The spark plugs are new. I will chnage the O2 sensor. Thanks for the info!

The oil consumption is normal? Or I have to do further steps (leakdown, compression test, maybe rebuild)?
