How much was the difference in price oem vs the auto part store?
Would a new PCV help with mileage? For my daily driver 2000 Accord I replaced the PCV with one from Advance Auto and it seemed to mprove fuel mileage a lot. I am now getting close to 400 miles on a full tank. The non OEM part was only about 2 bucks at Advance.

IMO the moral of this article is: do't use crappy dino sludge creating oil.
As far as I know the PCV system is an enviromental thing, to stop crank case gasses to be vented off into the enviroment.
You might as well use them, burn them.
Especially if they contain some oil (= fuel)
I would say the intake stays the cleanest when no (dirty) crankcase gasses are introduced at all.
And then there is the KrankVent theory (well..not really a theory): a vacuum in the crank case will make the rings seal better = more power.
And a vacuum in the crank case means "less" air and therefore less oil mist drag on the internals, aka windage.
Oh well...
Nice find on the article btw
