Silver_Bullet_S. Just out of curiosity, what was the event that created the need for milling both head and block?

Thanks!

Billman should answer about use your aftermarket valve train or oem.

Small claims limits are often quite long. Google for your state what the limits are. Maybe you could still file for shop two.
Thanks so much for your kind words, it really means a lot & is nice to hear. Yeah it's been pretty rough for the last year, but I try to just keep my head up. I hope to hear back from Billman because I'm at loss about what's the best route to go with the head. My S2000 is very important to me & I have a lot of sentimental memories with me & my father tied to it; so I really want to get it running again... I miss both my father & my S2k very much.

I tried searching the forums for a head but no luck. I see AP1 heads on ebay ranging from $850 - $1500 which is a lot of money (the heads aren't even complete), but how would I know if the head is in good condition if I cant see the head before purchasing it? I don't want to end up w another useless head & Ebay seems very risky to spend that much money w/ no guarantee.

Also, since I have a 2006 S2K, it makes finding a head harder becasue I don't have the air pump & AP1 heads have the air passages for the air pump. I heard you can plug them by getting them welded, but that just leaves another area where something can go wrong & you can see what my luck I've had w/ machine shops already.

How do people who need a head for their S2K go about securing one? Are there any used motor shops/distributors known for having heads? Do I have to find another 2006 head, or is is not too complicated to make any 2000-2005 head work? Any advice from anyone is appreciated.

Billman if you're out there & have any tips, I'd certainly be very grateful.

Yes, it was overheating. The head gasket blew, I was the 3rd owner of the car (only had 39k miles when I bought it) & I'm almost positive the last owner had a turbo on there. The head gasket blew in traffic on a very hot day & I couldn't pull over in time to keep the motor from overheating. The block seemed to be .002-.003" out of shape. The head was around the same.

The car is in pristine condition otherwise, not a dent or scratch. The block was rebuilt with new OEM rings & bearings, new clutch, etc. The head is the only issue.

Do you have any advice on how to find a head, preferably a 2006+ cyl head? I'll take an AP1 if i can find one that's unmilled, but worried about the complications of plugging the air pump passageways.

Yes, it was. The head gasket blew w/ only 39k miles on the car. I'm the 3rd owner & I'm almost positive the last owner had a turbo on there. The head gasket blew on a very hot day & I couldn't pull over in time to keep the motor from overheating. The block seemed to be warped .002 - .003" (i measured w/ feeler gauges). The head was around the same.

The bottom end parts looked fine but I had it torn down to be cleaned, straightened, and replaced the rings & bearings & clutch. The crank, rods, and pistons were in great shape.

Know anyone with a head to sell or where to get one?

Try Serge at 916-761-6756, he's my go-to for used parts. He usually sells complete motors but ask if he has any heads lying around.
