Default Possible Clutch issue? Not sure..

Hey guys,

I searched the forums but didn't find anything similar to my issue. Or at least I didn't see it.

So a few months back my clutch pedel started getting less and less "springy," as in the pedal didn't come back up like it used to. It eventually reached the point where the pedal no longer had pressure and it just fell to the floor. Anyway, it was my master cylinder/clutch fluid. All that got replaced.

Fast forward 2 months. The engagement of each gear seems to be getting lower and lower. I push the pedal to the floor, shift gears, and almost immediately as I begin to release the clutch I feel it engaging. I used to have to release the pedal further before feeling the engagement. I don't know if it is my clutch because there is no slipping, but a friend of mine said the engagement point will decrease as the clutch wears. Is this right? Does this sound like a clutch issue? Let me know what you think.

Specs: MY04 with 72,000 miles. I don't typically drive aggressively, and I've never dropped the clutch. It's a daily driver too.

Thanks in advance for all your constructive input

Check the master cyl, for fluid. it could be that not all of the air was bled properly and the bbbles are slowly returning the the reservoir. If you still dont like how it engages, you can adjust it with the master cylinder.

Do you mean the fluid may be low? Your comment about adjusting it with the master cylinder, is that something an amateur can do or is it invasive?

Yes, the fluid might be low. I found the s2k has a really fine line between too much and too little. Be careful filling it too, since I think overfilling mine MAY have damaged it, or it might have just been too old, im not really sure. The master cyl can be adjusted by taking out a pin behind the pedal, and twistinng it in/out to adjust where you want the clutch to engage. Its pretty easy to do if you are flexible/have a little patience.

Yeah, no prob, If you stick your head under there it should be pretty self explanitory of how to adjust it. Dont over do it though, if it gets notchy it means your clutch is not going down far enough. Use a Adjustable wrench on the square part and a normal open ended wrench on the other to loosen it (works like a lock nut on the shift knobs).
