this is the 2nd time this happened to me... i was driving my car last nite and while i was around 4k rpm i punched it and went all the way to 7k without hitting vtec... and suddenly once it reached about 7-7.5k rpm the car felt like it surged and lost power... so i let off the gas and cruised for a bit and wondered wat the heck jsut happened... now the car runs fine and the only mod i did was replace the air box filter and take off the top cover... does anybody know wat just happend to my car?

 

99.9% chance you didn't let the car warm up enough. Vtec won't engage until the engine is warm.

 

doest the car have a rev limit if the engine isnt warm enough? so it wouldnt rev all the way .

 

yeah, if the engine isnt completely warmed up(oil and all), theres a rev limiter set right before vtec, around 6k. so its impossible to rev past that with the 'cold' rev limiter.
