2. A few days later I felt a sudden power lose. Not on the dyno or anything, but obvious when driving. Motor sounds good, Vtech is good, everything works well, but the car has lost its kick.
3. Also noticed that the shifts are all much smoother than before (probably because the thing has even less torque now)
5. killed the Air box, great, more power, just not a much as before.

I just really want to make sure that it is the clutch, or pressure plate or something before I spend 1 grand on it. By the way t does catch.

Question. I didn't own this car with 0 miles on it, who has, and if so can you tell me if the OEM clutch can hold a 6,000 RMP launch?
what do you mean by "sudden power loss"? you say it runs fine...sudden power loss does not sound like it runs fine...do you mean decreased power? if you have decreased power, i would second guess the compression test. try doing a leakdown test as well.

shifts are smoother? i don't see what smoother shifts have to do with power...

if you say the clutch is catching...then why would you be questioning the clutch?

if your clutch is engaging fine, i don't see why you would even think about spending 1 grand or however much on it.

and yes, with the proper technique, the oem clutch can grab on a 6k clutch drop.

you have to slide your left foot sideways off the clutch pedal, as it would engage faster than lifting your foot.

i've done it once, so i know you can...besides a lot of people post about their 6K rpm launches.

bosch plugs belong in bosch cars or something like that.. besides.. Japaneses motors prefer oem plugs.. even civics that have 500 hp use oem plugs.. just different temp rating

you said it suddenly lost power?? did you dooo anything before it.. go back say 5000miles.. anything you have done to the car??

doing all that cleaning and replacing this and that.. all because of a SUDDENLY lost of power.. usually mean something was done SUDDENLY before it lost its power..

also would rec. hooking up a scan tool and see if there are any pending codes.. not sure how well honda or your scan tools are.. because not all will read a pending code..

start with the basics.. it might be something little and something you did that caused all this

work for an Audi dealership?? small dealership or cant ask other techs to help.. like a MDT

Thanks, I'll check on these things and repost... Shift are smoother, thats just it, don't ask me what the relation is, if I know I wouldn't post it. I have owned the car since 25,000 miles, it was better, but the clutch has always seemed weak to me compaired to my previous cars.

I'll get the thing hooked to to a diagnostic test I guess(no engine lights on). I really do know what if this is a sensor issue, but I wouldn't rule it out as this problem didn't occur gradually. Also, I didn't touch the car at all, it was stock before anything happened.

The car isn't stalling, or idling high-low/misfiring or anything. It runs well, just feels significantly slower. if I didn't own the car before I would know something was wrong.

As per the leak test, I have never done this before. guide me for this one.

If all you have to go on is that the car "feels" slower, your butt-dyno might simply be off. See if you can line up against another S2000, or even take one for a drive.

Yours is an 04, right? I'd assume that this is caused by the Clutch Delay Valve. It allows the clutch to (intentionally) slip a bit during hard shifts in an attempt to protect the differential. I don't really know what it feels like compared to an AP1 without the CDV, but maybe someone like Elistan that has had both can comment on the difference in feel.

Also... was the MAP sensor issue resolved in 04? If not, maybe that's what you're experiencing. If you're not familiar with it, look in the UTH FAQs... I think there's info in there about it.
