Default Power Steering problem

Good morning everyone, I am in the market in purchasing the AP2 and I have found one salvage everything about the car I like and for the price he's selling it for I think it's perfect for my situation. The car only have one problem which is the power steering. I was wondering if anyone knows how much it would cost me to fix it. I am a collage student so hopefully it is not too expensive. I think I can do a DIY if possible, I'm pretty good with my hands around cars. Could you guys please let me know what I can do to check see what's wrong with it and how much it would cost me to fix it. I don't mind driving it without the power steering but I rather have it repaired.

Thank you
Mike

Hi! I can't help you with the power steering other than by suggesting you buy a shop manual, but think a bit. The car has a SALVAGE title. How likely is it that there is really only one thing wrong with it? Why was it S-titled in the first place? I'd take the car for a PPI before you consider buying it.

It's a electronic power steering. Is the EPS light on? It could just need a reset. A special scanner has to be hooked up and see if any codes pop up.

Just came back from the shop. My steering when out with EPS light on. The EPS computer module was defective. Honda want $1200 for a new one. I took a chance and bought a used one on Ebay for $65 and $140 for installation. You can installed it yourself but the mechanic said it has to be reprogram for it to work so I had to pay $140 for the install and reprograming.
