Default Previous DRL install detective work

Hello All,

My 2001 (Black, 65km) was imported from the US to Canada in 2007 and had DRL installed to meet Canadian standards at that time by a previous owner.

When I bought the car a couple of years ago the DRL functioned as per factory (low level highbeams upon ignition) but they have suddenly stopped working while all other headlight functions remain the same.

I checked the under dash fuses (fine) but cannot for the life of me find an aftermarket (or oem) DRL control module. I had the same issue with my 91 CRX but was able to locate the module and re-solder the board with success.

Question - Since I cannot locate any evidence of an aftermarket or oem DRL module install anywhere under the dash (driver side, passenger side, behind radio) or under the hood can anyone suggest where else I should look? The car is bone stock so I was hoping any add ons would be pretty easy to see.

All suggestions and help appreciated!

I forgot to mention that there is a 10a fuse in slot labelled (Running Light) of the under dash fusebox

look for spare wire or add in fuse going from an IGN source to the red/blue wire behind the steering wheel light switch stalk..

thats the simplest of DRL add ons that requires no module...

the other is this

I installed a hamsar DRL unit in my 2003 US import- the system I used worked exactly like OEM. I put the DRL module in the engine bay- it should be about 1"x1"x2" and black in colour. I used separate connectors to the front lights I sourced from an old civic and left the OEM ones uncut.

Start at the connectors at the lights and start tracing them back. If you can find the module, keep tracing the wires- check to see if you have a wire that penetrates the firewall on its own, perhaps running thru a preexisting rubber grommet- again trace into the cabin and see where it terminates. I connected mine with a spade connector to the fuse box- every once in a while its would come out and I'd just have to put the connector back in since the DRL's would stop working, but the regular lights kept working fine.

Consider contacting the previous owner?

First thing I looked for was the hamsar unit. No sign anywhere as per the photos. I really dont want to take off the front wheels but it looks like I'm running out of possible places...
