one other thing to check: the body of the latch is covered by a plastic "surround" that, at least in my car, created a lot of rattling after time. at first i just stuffed a piece of paper between the metal body and the plastic outer piece, but eventually i just took the plastic off. it looks like this:



no more rattles (at least from there )
