Default Problem with Valve Cover

Ok, I just got my valve cover yesterday and I was going to get it installed today. However, my brother decides to put it on without asking me. I was watching TV inside and he came and said I think I fk'ed something up. I asked him what he was talking about and he told me that he broke some bolts when he was putting on the valve cover.

I checked the car and realized that he broke 3 of the bolts in half. 1 holding a sensor, 1 holding the cover, and 1 holding the spark plug coil. Now, half of the bolts are still in there. If I drive the car like this would it hurt the engine? What problems am I facing.

The ones he broke are shown in the picture:

Damn, that sucks! I'm thinking you can't drive it. The sensor can't be sealed and oil would come out and your coil "might" come loose.

The head stud may not be that bad.

Man...that cover is all kinds of jinxed.

I doubt that the coil will come out as it is really long. the only concen I have is the sensor.

I guess, as long as one of the bolts on the sensor is snug, it'll be ok. Also, you need to replace the spark plug channel gaskets on the cover. I had recommended that ages ago when I first got it from you. So, if you're headed to a shop or something, have those done too. ($20 or so from the dealer.)

And when I said coil come out, I meant just come off of the spark plug, not come out all together. Just enough to lose contact with the plug.

Good luck!

It's like 9 ft/lbs.

How about fixing it the right way? Replace the parts that are broken and easy-out the broken bolts? Any shop should be able to do it for you.

ALWAYS use a torque wrench on every bolt you attach to a honda.
