the tsb only covers recently bought vehicles. the dealers will try and bs you and you that this is wear and not covered by the tsb.
Sorry, that is inaccurate. TSB's are documented repair procedures for a known issue. They are not a safety or mandatory recall that has to be done.

A TSB repair is covered under warranty if your vehicle falls under the effected VIN# range, and has the same symtom the TSB describes. You car must also be under the Factory 3yr 36K miles.

If you have an Extended warranty, Some warranty companies will not pay for a TSB to be performed.

Go to the dealership... also, try pushing down on the shifter and then putting it in reverse.. it might be as simple as that

Sounds like the spring is sticking under the shift lever to me.

Sometimes the one or both of the nylon bushings can break and leave pieces jammed into the shifter. The TSB is on this site in the service bulletin section.

You can pull the whole shifter out (the hard part is getting to the bolts that hold it to the transmission there's not much room and not much skin left on my knuckles).

**DON'T REMOVE THE SMALL BUSHING UNLESS IT IS BROKEN ALREADY**

****REMOVING IT WILL BREAK IT UNLESS YOU USE A MAGIC SPELL *****

Even putting it back on can break it.

Used the same proceedure cold starting my last nine Hondas when backing out of the garage every morning. Works like a charm. I can't remember the last time I stalled a car without crashing, its probably been 13 years.

He left out "shift back to neutral" before going into reverse.
This method helped a lot on my last Honda in the winter mornings.

If you have "crunchy" gears.. Running through the box forward then backwards might help. On my last I had to go 1-6, 6-1, 1-5, 5-1, etc. all the way through.

Honda trannies.
