Default Prop Shaft CV Joints Same Size Spline AP1 and AP2?

I was wondering if anyone knows whether the ap1 and ap2 propeller shaft CV joints are the same and whether they are serviceable? If so I would like to swap the ap1 transmission side cv cup onto the ap2 propshaft. That way I can use an AP1 transmission with an AP2 differential without modifying them. Thanks.

You can take them apart.

Remove the circlip AND the dust boot clamp and you can remove it from the propshaft.
Not sure if there is a difference between AP1/AP2 propshaft splines.

You need to find a good replacement boot clamp or make sure the old one is not damaged and good to re-use.
The propshaft makes more revs so a good one is kinda critical IMO.

What's the best way to take them apart? I couldn't find a way to use a puller and didn't want to hit it with anything harder than a rubber mallet. Thanks.

IIRC you loosen the plate (left in the picture) by removing 2 allen-key screws.
Note that the plate might be a bit stuck because of the pins & gasket stuff.
A rubber (or plastic) mallet should do it.

Just remembered: use a thin film of liquid gasket to seal the plate against the CV.
Don't cover the tiny breather hole.

Does this help?

Yea I removed the 2 allen keys but it was still stuck. I drilled out the diff side flange to accept the bigger bolts for now but as soon as I receive an AP2 prop shaft I'll take it out and give it another try. Thanks.

If anyone has an ap2 prop shaft lying around or just happens to be under their car, could you please write down the NTN part number on the side of the diff side CV joint flange?

Well I just ordered an ap2 prop shaft. I'm surprised no one has thought of swapping the cv joints instead of changing the diff input flange.

Does this mean the splines are the same?
Confirmed?
Good news.
