Pulled off valve covers to inspect retainers...
they all looked fine.
I have a MY'01 that I've owned for over 10 years. Not long after I bought it I was letting a guy drive it and he made a bad shift (3 to 2). I recently read about cracking retainers and even though I've heaped 10+ years of fun driving on the car I wanted to be sure that there wasn't a disaster lurking.
Anyhoo, it wasn't a very hard process and the reassurance was nice. I hope to be one of those guys with 300k+ one of these days!
