Questions about lowering an AP1
Hi guys, i recently lowered my car on KGMM race springs, and was just wondering how soon do i have to get it aligned? I was also told that I do not need a camber kit, and all i would need is to get it aligned. Also, how long will it take for my tires to get uneven tread wear from driving on slanted tires? thanks.
just take it to get aligned after the springs settle. you do not need a camber to get aligned given that you don't want some extreme negative camber. it's kind of hard to tell how long your tires will last without knowing what your current alignment looks like.
You should align on fresh tires especially if the old tires are worn unevenly even a little bit.
You can't properly align on unevenly worn tires.
Wait about 500-1000 miles or a couple weeks for the springs to settle, and then get an alignment.
Your rear tires will get chewed up fast and on the inside anyway since the S2000 has a pretty significant amount of toe IN in the rear.
Camber isn't a major wearing angle. Toe is. However, camber and toe put together are monsters for tire wear.

I am just wondering why you would need fresh tires? I am no expert but when you get your car aligned I always thought the car was off the ground. I just installed the Pss9's and usually run Volks 17 but I plan on getting it aligned with the stock 16, is this a bad idea?
its not actually off the ground, it sits on floating plates, to simulate normal ride height. typically u can use whatever wheel u want. the machine is attached to your rim, not your tire. so regardless of the size it will still be at the same angle. but if u go with a wider tire or different offset, ur camber might be thrown off just a hair. but its really not that big of a deal. now, if u were to have one new tire on one side and one bald one on another. thats when things will get shaky because the rim will be sitting at a different height on either side. i just lowered my AP1 this afternoon on swift springs. i have a suspended license for the next 30 days but im going to wait about 2 weeks after i get my license back before i get it aligned to let the springs settle.
