Rat Damaged my ABS
I rat chewed through some wires on my ABS system and it no longer works. The rat chewed the wires just as they exit the plug that goes into the brake resevoir. Honda says I have to replace the entire wiring harnes. $260 for the harness and $1550 in labor. They say they will repair the wires for $15 in parts and $550 in labor but will not warrent a repair. They said my comprehensive should pay for it except I have a $1,000 deductable.
Has anyone run into this before and what have you done? I am not at all thrilled with a $1800 plus repair job. The good news is a killed the rat.

next time consider a cheaper dedutible.
Pay up or do the install job yourself. I wouldn't be keen on splicing together my ABS system unless I had a really good electronics guy do it for me.

honestly, you should have extremely low deductibles for comprehensive. it'd probably cost you $5 more a month to drop to a $100 deductible on comprehensive.
Thanks for the input. What I was really looking for was not so much a correction of grammar or comments on my deductible, but comments on the mechanical advisability of a repair versus a replacement. For those who may be interested in that question, I have an answer from the Honda Service Manager. The ABS works off of micro volts. So, any repair is likely to alter the amount of voltage that gets to the system. Thus, a repair would probably have ongoing problems. Or at least there is a good chance it would. If the resistance is any greater or lower in the wires, then the ABS will not work. So, the answer is simple: replace the entire system. Anyway, this was my reason for posting the question and I had hoped that someone would have had experience with this or something like it.
