Default Rattle at shutdown, clutch rattle

I've read a few short threads on this but nothing too detailed. The clutch or a related component rattles when the engine is turned off. No rattle if clutch is depressed. Before I take it to the dealer, wanted to see if anyone here had experience getting this fixed or not. Is it a "design feature of the vehicle"? Is it the clutch or tranny? Something else?
IMO, the rattle sounds cheesy for a $30k plus car.

Thanks

I noticed that also but they told me it was normal. Lets see what the other members have to say.

I experience that too, and have felt it on other's s2k's. I doubt there is a fix to it, you need to remember, the tranny is practically right underneath you, youll feel anything/everything.

honda didnt spend a lot of cash on NHV (noise, harshness, vibration), so you're going to hear and feel more than you would an Accord or even a Civic Si. civility is not what the s2000 was built for.

also, i'd like to point out $30k isn't that much money. look at the cost of most cars that arent complete piles of crap, they're all at or nearing 30k. now, if this were 1990, yes 30K for a car would be somewhat expensive, but not nowadays.

i work at a dodge dealership doing computer work and such, and a new Ram 1500 with a "Hemi" goes for about 40 grand

^^^that was just for reference.

I got it. Don't worry about it much though. I figure when it stops I need to worry.

Well at least it sounds like an inherent problem or 'feature'. For comparison, my neighbor's Saturn 5 speed doesn't even do it.

Wonder what it actually is? The clutch disc? The transmission? A mount? Anyone ever troubleshoot it that far?
Just curious now more than anything.

the saturn is a FWD, you may feel a TINY bit, but more so on a rwd especially the s2k where the tranny is tucked right underneath where you sit.......
