Rear ball joint problem

if you've already got it to move some, hit it with a really big hammer (just try not to ding up the knuckle)

I been hitting it with a sledge hammer so many time the car started to shake on the jackstands!! LOL! it not moving anymore, its so damn close! somehow I will get it. The problem is, when you hit it, the whole assembly jumps up with it so i cannot get a hard solid hit on it. If it was still bolted down or if it was bolted down period to something i can get a good solid hit and not have anything move but the joint. But now the joint and knucle both jump up on the hit.

I am skipping ahead here, but was it easier to install the new joint then taking the old one out?

Yes, install is easier. i recommend putting the ball joint in the coldest part of your freezer 24 hrs in advance if possible. it won't shrink much, but every little bit helps. It's also easier to setup the press for installation.

If you have a propane torch, it might be worth heating the knuckle some. Just be careful not to burn anything.

ok!!!! wow, i took the entire rear knucle off and put it in a vice, cut the ball joint screw out with a recipricating saw, it took 4 blades! that hardened steel sure is hard! then i took a sledge hammer, and with 3 good bangs it was out. Tomorrow the new joits come, i pray i can get them in my self some how.

I needed to replace my rear lower ball joint today.

Heard that the 97' hond aaccord one worked. So I ran to the local parts store to grab one to find out that it's not the same.

Luckily I work at an acura dealership, so I figured I'd try a 97' Acura CL front lower ball joint while it was on the hoist.

WORKED perfect!!

So maybe I grab the wrong Honda accord one from the parts store sinc ether eare so many variables. 2door, 4door, 4cl, 6cyl.

There is only 1 kind of 97" Acura CL front lower ball joint.
