My car was making the exact same noise from the right rear last week. The Honda dealership checked everything and had no clue. I looked it up on here and found out that it was the hub nuts needed to be tightened to 220 lb ft. I took it back and told them what to do and it worked. My Honda Dealership has the worst service department in North America hands down.

Tighten the hub nuts and the problem will go away.

 

THANK THE LORD!!! I have been trying to find out what this noise has been for the past month!! It's metallic rubbing noise coming from the right rear also. I've gone to all my mechanic friends and they have been pretty clueless with out actually working on the car. I'm gonna check this as soon as I get home!

 

Just make sure they torque it to 220 lb ft. I took it to Honda first and they said they did it but they screwed it up cause the noise got quieter and happened less often but it was still there. Then I took it to a mechanic friend and watched him torque it to 220 and now the clicking is gone! I was SO HAPPY! That noise was driving me nuts.

 

As someone already mentioned, it may be a good idea to pull the knuckle away from the driveshaft and grease the splines. Apply a small amount of grease where the nut contact's the hub and tighten to the new spec with a new nut and re-stake.

 

It is now 5 days later and the noise is completely gone. Since it worked my mechanic also did the left side today just to be on the safe side. Thanks to all that offered up their help. JimmyB
