Correct. Have you guys ever noticed that on some of the new GM vehicles, you get fuel cut at around 4000 RPM if you try to floor it in neutral? Redline is 6000. I also had an 03 explorer that won't let me rev past 4500 or so in neutral, but to redline at 6k was fine. Engineers realize it is indeed bad for the engine.

My AP1 hits a rev limiter at 4000 if I'm not in gear.

well that's so you can't neutral drop it from really high as well. It's also to prevent abusive warranty claims. If you left a brick on the pedal to blow up an engine for a warranty claim, it'd take a hell of a lot longer at 4k. There's all kinds of reasons that GM does that.

Who does a neutral drop on an Impala or an Explorer anyway? Someone correct me if wrong, but I understand that engines are balanced to "safely" rotate up to redline while under load, not while in neutral. Therefore, you have the lower fuel cut.
