Default Rev-limiter...

I just need a confirmation on this:
It will not damage/hurts your S *in anyway* if you bounce of the rev-limiter, right? How about bouncing off it multiple times, try 4 times in second . All at once...

As long as your accelerating when hitting the rev limiter, no problem - that' swhat it's there for. Nothing is going to prevent damage from downshifting to 1st at 90MPH and hitting the rev limiter that way.

The limiter simply cuts fuel and/or ignition (never did find out exactly what) to prevent the engine from going faster...

I've heard that it's not healthy for the engine. Imagine, the engine is working very hard in increasing rpm, then there is an abrupt fuel cutoff. I'm no engineer, but it does feel bad when you hit the rev limiter.

I thought it was like a trend or something.

it's there as a safety feature for the engine. it is possible to rev higher than the limiter if you're downshifting, but highly risky. the limiter is there to save you from having to buy a new engine. i bounce off the limiter regularly, esp. while tracking or autocrossing when it would cost too much time to shift up and then have to downshift again immediately for a turn.

It's no different than getting on and off the gas. You'll do a whole lot more (potential) damage by dropping the clutch at 6+K RPM or not changing oil (or using the proper oil) frequently enough. It's not a huge shock like changing RPM by thousands of RPMs instantly - it simply keeps the engine at a more-or-less constant speed similar to the way ABS keeps the tires rolling at a constant speed (relative to actual speed)...

Definitely. It's not like not changing your oil and stuff like that.
