Thanks for the guide and the TSB. I followed directions and completed this in 20 minutes or so. Didn't really notice any difference in shifting, but it couldn't have hurt, either.

just got this done.
shifting is smoother - more like butter.
this what i wanted.

those 3 bolts are difficult to get out without loosing them.
and they're nightmare to put back in !!!!
if you remove the whole center console instead of just top cover this will be way easier.

but still - even in those conditions it's doable.
just be carefull.

after 500km mountains trip and 2 hours track day i can tell it so slick that i don't even notice/remember moments that i've changed gear.

so it's not recommended for people who like to feel the notch and get connected to their gearbox

I just did two of my friends s2000's under 15 min for both back to back. Super easy to do and they said most noticable was getting into reverse!.

Just finished doing this. Wasn't all that hard with the exception of getting the shifter bolted back in. Lining up the plate and putting in the 3 bolts was a huge pain, especially since the plate and bolts get all greasy after a few attempts.

Haven't driven the car yet, but I'm hoping it makes as big a difference as everyone says.

I have found these:

to be very helpful when trying to start bolts such as the three bolts holding down the shifter when in tight hard to reach areas.

thanks for putting up this DIY, i just did this 30mins ago, and went out for a drive. the process is really simple, it took me 30mins or so, without having any trouble getting out or put in any parts.

just a little tip on how to remove plastic ring for the rubber boot, if you by any chance have a very tiny flat screw driver for opening iphone or for watches or glasses, it will be a very good tool. start by pulling the rubber inside the ring, you will see a little opening at the buttom of the plastic ring, then you just poke the screw driving into there, and give a little pull on the outside of the ring, it should came off easily, then you do the same for two more side, the last side will just came off itself. and i did not remove the plastic ring from the rubber, they came off in one piece.

also when you put back in the bolts, put in gear will stop the shifter pop out, i guess someone mentioned this before.

this DIY definitely made a different for shifting. but do not misunderstand this with grinding, this will NOT make grinding that much better, but this will make the overall shifting smoother, i got GM fluid in my tranny, and after this DIY i feel it is somehow too smooth, lack of shifting feeling compare to before. But not a necessary bad thing to me.
