Default Reinstalling valve cover question!

So me and my dad are trying to put my valve cover back on and it doesn't seem to seat very well, you have to push down on it to make the gasket make contact with the engine. The thing that seems to be in the way are the spark plug tube seals.

Are the lips of the spark plug tube seals supposed to pop around the spark plug tubes are just seat on it?

Seals go on the outside of the tubes to prevent oil from going into the tubes. Use your finger to roll the seal out during valve cover install to prevent them from tearing.

Yeah pretty much, put a lil oil on the inside lip and use your fingers to push the seal over the tube. Those seals are expensive and are easy to destroy.

Be careful not to over-torque the valve cover bolts as they will shear very easily!

thanks guys, just did my first valve adjustment and car runs better than when i bought it I think the hardest part about that whole job was taking the the old spark plug tube seals out to replace them with new ones.
