Found out from the dealership that they didn't plan on grinding on the steering knuckle but instead on one side of the flange on the lug stud to help it clear the knuckle. Anyone have opinions on this method?

ahh that makes more sense and shouldn't be too unsafe so long as they don't remove too much metal.
I'd be interested to know if that method works.
Racer:
I've used all the right tools including having them professionally done the first time and doing my self the 2nd time. Drop it. They are not resuable. The 2 inner halfs of the bearing "crush" together when you press them in. Please get yourself a helms manual for the S2K if you don't have one.

yeah I wouldn't feel very comfortable running 10mms on stock lugs.
at 5mm you still have a "reasonable" amount of thread in the lug.

I don't recommend grinding the stud. The proper way would be to remove the hub with a press. I have never done this on my S, but have heard if you do this, the bearings will get damaged. I don't know if this is true or not, but if it is true, you will have to spring for new bearings.
I just don't like the idea of grinding the stud or the knuckle.
