Removing a timing chain tensioner
I'm just wondering how I would be able to remove a timing chain tensioner from my old engine and swapping it into another engine without the spring retracting? I'm under the impression that once the timing chain tensioner assembly gets split apart its useless?
in the manual, it says you need to put a 5x0.8 mm bolt and nut into it, i gues thats wat holds it together. i didnt do that, took mine off 2day n didnt use the bolt (didnt have one, could find one) but i stukc a litto screw driver in there n pryed it off n BAM! springs n all came shootin out... so if all the springs come apart, its no good??

IF you have a suitable bolt to hold it together that is the best method.
Otherwise you could try the access port on the front, push the tensioner back and pin it with the off cut of a rivet but you'd have to rotate the piston son you could insert the pin.
