Default Replaced MAP sensor...Why did I wait so long?

History:
My car seemed to perform better at 3/4 throttle than wide open.
Lower revs engine seemed like a cork was stuck in the exhaust
Intermittant vtec engagement
l

1 week since replacement:

Instantly noticed an improvement in driveability especially pre-vtec.
vtec is pronounced every time
Engine seems to warm up much faster? Don't know why
Engine accelerates to redline a lot quicker
Overall my butt meter tells me I have added horsepower
Mileage seems to be better despite frequent vtecing

Which leads me to another question. Is it possible that some of the folks that have low dyno results could be experiencing MAP sensor problems?

Some of it may be placebo effect, but I think I have made an improvement.

I was wondering if the engine light came on with the faulty MAP sensor.

I do not believe it is necessary for the engine light to come on if you are experiencing MAP sensor related problems. Perhaps someone else can chime in on this.

I have never had the engine light come on.

What are the symptoms of a MAP sensor problem?

Inconsistent fuel delivery (cutting out) at high throttle openings.

Is the my02 MAP sensor an improved design, or should we all plan to change our MAP sensor every couple years?
