Retainers?
Hey I have a question - I've been reading about how AP1 retainers are sensitive to over rev's - when and how exactly do you know that they need replacement? My car has 148K on it, its a 2002 S2K....I twice had engine misfire issues at 70K with a catalytic converter gone along with the sensors...honda replaced the engine coil in cylinder 1 and 3, along with the cat under warranty. I'm not sure if the retainers would have been a part of it, but as I am tracking the car now I want to ensure I can be proactive in saving major catastrophes. Pls let me know.
Also, is OEM the way to go? Thanks!

The retainers are an entirely different job than what you had done, so you can be sure they are original.
The best thing is to just pull the cover, and inspect them. Find my pics of broken retainers, and you will know what to look for.
If they are good, leave them be.
If they are broke, stock AP2 retainers and keepers (AP2 keepers are a MUST with the ap2 retainers) are your best and most reliable fix.

to OP, replace retainers if you have miss-shifted really bad. if not leave them alone.
