Rick's 4.44?
The 444's that rick sold are mazda gears, made by mazda for your mazda lsd. They're pretty quiet, almost the same as OE. I now have the Ricks 457r's, (the r stands for revised to accomodate gear noise) they're not as quiet but much better that the original 457's I've heard.
That's typical whenever you put in aftermarkets.

They should be every bit as good as the OEM, not noisy and not be any more problematic than the OEM. And, the OEM is pretty good and not problematic.
The problem with the OEM rear carrier is not in the gears but in the bearing cap and mount and that may be limited to the AP1 generation.

The only thing I found different was the connector to the prop shaft. The ap2 prop shaft is different . It's a little lighter and a little bigger in diameter.
If anyone needs a set of 410's I have two here.
one with 4k and one with 12k on them.

That could well be. Physically the two pieces are identical. I thought perhaps the prop shaft and mount changes took some of the linear shock off the housing.
I haven't cranked on my new ones yetoff the line. Another week or so we're going to go see how they do in the 1/8th mile. With my luck I'll hook up and snap axles.
