S2000 OEM differential failures
Did you fly the Corsair cosmo? If so, what years?
I did in Lemoore. Briefly in VA-192 and then VA-147. Kitty Hawk. 1981-1985 before heading to Sherman in Pensacola. Almost a centurion on the Lex!

I wonder if Billman tracks this kind of thing. It seems to me operator input would have the real cause.

Congrats Cosmo!
I was an east coast P-3 driver. But I do have memories of the A-7 when I was a shooter on Forrestal (CV-59) my first cruise. I remember the way the exhaust sloped down and would take your feet out from under you and send you for a ride if you weren't paying attention. I don't remember the Hornet being as much of a problem, except for the cycle times being cut in half my second cruise.

I did not know too many P3 shooters! Will PM you to see if we know some people. Orion was a great plane. Got to fly it during college when I was an AOC candidate. 05-79.
For what it is worth, I have built a few S2000 and Miata diffs for guys that track and race their cars. In the pats 2 years I have had 2 Miata rears and now a S2000 rear showing ware and heat damage using Millers crxlsnt gear oil.
I no nothing of this oil and never recomened this oil, I recomend Amsoil 75/140 or Motul 75/140.
The OSGiken LSD seems to like the Motul best and is second choie to the OSGiken brand oil.

Are these OEM diffs showing wear puddy? What viscosity is the Millers? It has an advanced base oil and add pack from what I understand, but this isn't the first time I've heard of problems.
What is this OSGiken diff that you speak of? Is that yours?

The 2 Miata rears are stock LSD and the cars do endurance racing. The ware was extream! The S2000 is a BSP car running OSGiken LSD and using 75/90 I built the rear a year ago and from the looks of things I will need to go over it again now, bad ware
I appreciate yours and Billman's inputs puddy. I'd like to get more inputs from original owners, but I realize that may not be possible on this website. I have another poll that I did a few years ago that we could update next. But it is more clutch related. I'd rather focus on the differential for now. And then driving style.
Also, I'd like to have viscosity and brand of gear oil identified in the reply section. Only one person has done that so far.
