s2000 problem

Default s2000 problem

Hi im new here to s2ki I just recently bought my 2001 Honda s2000 and am already having problems with it first of all when I go to start it, its misfires and then goes away its been doing this for the last couple of days until today now it wont start ive check the fuel and has fuel ive check if it has spark and it does so I did a compression test and these were the results #1 180 #2 150 #3 150 #4 175 would the low compression not let it start ?The car never smoked, the only thing i noticed was that u could smell collant all the time but had no leaks nowhere i would have to fill up the radiator every couple days could u guys give me any advice

Sounds like a Head gasket leak? not too fun, Maybe since its the middle two cyl that has low comp, the gasket is blown between there..?

yah, thatts the headgasket, anything more than like 15 of a diff. between cylinders is no good, and having to add coolant and smelling it is no good. sorry to hear that

thats exactly was i was thinking but wasnt sure, but would that cause it not to start?

It could possibly if the coolant was getting into the cylinders it would make it harder to ignite.... First things first do a leakdown test to make sure it is only your hg. than fix it!

I'd have a leak down test done before I'd start pulling the head just to confirm the head gasket...but given the symptoms sure sounds like that is your problem.

where would i get my hand on a leak down tester auto parts store?

I'm not sure many auto parts stores carry a leak down test kit....and you need an air compressor to work it.

Post up in your local s2ki forum and ask for a shop recommendation. Most shops will have the equipment. And they may not charge for it if you then let them pull the head should the gasket be bad.
