Engine Choke?
I have had this problem about 3 times on the road... so I was wondering if its normal or if there is a serious problem w/ my 02 S2000.
It happens when I am pushing the Engine, ie shifting at 8300 rpm, and not at 4000-5000 rpm when in first gear. When I am accelerating, all of the sudden there is a jerk backwards as if the car was breaking (or engines choking) at around 5000-6000 rpm. It feels like tranmission braking (big jerk backwards), with the exception that I am not even using the clutch (except in shifting, but I don't shift till 8000 rpms). After this happened in first gear.. I shifted to second gear and began accelerating rpms again... happens same thing at 5000-6000 rpms.
After that incident, I began normal driving... After a few miles and minutes.. I pushed the engine again.. and all was normal.. vtech kicked in at 6000 rpm as usual.
I believe that maybe the engine was still "cold" for a push. However, it was.. a pretty hot day today.
My S2000 has 700 miles in it.
What is your opinion? Normal or serious? Are there side effects?
Thanks in advance.

The rev limiter kicked in because the engine wasn't warmed up to three bars. Just because it is warm outside, doesn't mean the engine is warmed up. Next time, wait until you get three bars before going into VTEC.
Just like a woman, ya have to cuddle and smooch for a bit before Gittin' Bizzy...
Be gentle until you have 3 bars of temp. There are many reasons, among them, pistons aren't round when cold. They're slightly oval. When they warm up, they become round. If you rev the snot out of any car when cold, you'll cause premature engine wear...
